Editing judged on whether people keep watching, not on whether the cuts look clever.
The evidence first
This is the craft I can prove most directly, so here is the proof before the pitch. Next Level SA is my own channel, not a client account. Every video on it was written, cut and finished by me, which is why it is the first thing on this page: there is no one else whose contribution I would be quietly taking credit for.
Published between March 2021 and June 2026. Fourteen videos passed 100,000 views and one passed a million. Forty-one thousand hours is close to five years of continuous viewing. The figures come from an analytics export, and I will show you the export rather than ask you to take my word for it.
Hours watched is the number worth paying attention to there. Views measure whether something was opened; hours measure whether the edit held. Holding an audience for forty-one thousand hours is the entire job.
What I edit
- Long-form videoInterview, talking head, documentary style and narration-led. Structure, pacing, b-roll, sound design, subtitles and motion graphics. The work of finding the film inside the footage.
- Corporate and promotional videoCompany profile videos, promotional cuts and internal video. Fixed price from R2,200 for a standard corporate or work profile video.
- Property and Airbnb walkthroughsListing videos for estate agents, landlords and short-let hosts. Built from your own footage and photographs of the actual property.
- Training and internal videoInduction, process and explainer video for teams. Clear, captioned, and cut so somebody can follow it without a presenter in the room.
- Subtitles, graphics and soundCaptions, lower thirds, text animation, colour and audio cleanup. Available on their own if the edit is already done and only the finishing is missing.
On property video, and what I will not do
Property video works because a viewer believes they are seeing the actual place. So the footage has to be of the actual place. I will edit, grade, pace, caption and score what you supply, and where AI assistance is used in production it is used on your own supplied assets.
I will not generate rooms, furniture, views or finishes that do not exist in the property, and I will not present generated footage as a photograph of a real listing. That is not caution, it is the entire value of a listing video. A buyer who arrives and finds the room different is a complaint against you, not against me.
What it costs
Priced per video, or per project where there are several. Corporate and work profile video starts at a fixed R2,200. Property work is quoted per property once I know the length and how much footage exists.
What moves the price:
- Finished length, and how much raw footage it has to be found in
- How much motion graphics, text animation and sound design is involved
- Whether subtitles and captions are needed
- Whether colour grading and audio repair are part of the job
- Turnaround. A normal schedule and a rush are different jobs
Client work
I edit video for clients through Upwork and directly, where I hold a 100% Job Success Score and the Rising Talent badge. On Mobrage's video work I restructured the opening seconds and the pacing around how an audience actually watches, rather than around the order the footage was shot in, and the client reported an improvement in retention afterwards. No percentage is published here, because that number is theirs and sits in their analytics.
How it starts
Send a link to the footage, or to something you have finished before, and say what the video is for and who has to watch it. If there is an existing cut I will tell you what I think is holding it back before you have paid anything, because that conversation is how you find out whether I know what I am talking about.
